🔥Key Takeaway: While the rate of inflation is declining, it’s not yet clear whether it will drop to the Federal Reserve’s target of 2% anytime soon. Taking that into consideration, the Fed’s inflation battle is far from over as sticky core prices persist.

 India's headline retail inflation rate fell to 4.87 percent in October, according to data released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation on November 13, thanks to the combination of a favourable base effect and cooling prices of some items. However, rising onion prices kept the fall in inflation in check.

Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation print in September was 5.02 percent.

At 4.87 percent, the latest CPI inflation figure is broadly in line with expectations, with economists having predicted prices likely rose 4.8 percent year-on-year in October.

The stock markets Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) will open for one hour on Sunday, November 12, for the Diwali Muhurat trading session; a symbolic event held by both stock exchanges marking the auspicious festival.

What is Muhurat trading?

During Muhurat trading, investors and traders conduct symbolic trades and seek good fortune and prosperity for the new financial year. The session is a blend of finance and spirituality as it is believed that trading during this hour can bring money and success.

The Muhurat trading session also marks the beginning of a new Hindu calendar year, also known as Samvat.

Muhurat trading: Timings

The NSE announced that the stock market will be open from 6pm-7:15 pm on Sunday on the occasion of Diwali. Additionally, there will also be a block deal window that will open at 5:45 pm.

The market session will take place between 6:15pm-7:15 pm and trade modification will be permitted until 7:25 pm. At the end, the closing session will take place from 7:25pm-7:35 pm.

Muhurat trading: Significance

Muhurat trading is seen as a positive start to the new financial year and remains a valued tradition in the Indian stock market.

Experts believed that investing money in the market during the Muhurat trading day is auspicious. The stock market has closed in the green on Muhurat trading day during the last two sessions.

Both BSE and NSE will remain closed on November 14 on the occasion of Diwali Balipratipada.
